Sanders And Clinton Square Off In Presidential Debate In Flint Sunday
FLINT (WWJ) - Flint in the spotlight Sunday night as it hosts the Democratic presidential debate between candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.
We asked Mark Brewer, the longest serving Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party, if he believes we'll be looking at a Donald Trump-Hillary Clinton ticket this election.
"I think that's a possibility at this point - obviously we've got this unprecedented effort inside the Republican party to tear down their front-runner ... what Mitt Romney did this past week was incredible," said Brewer, "you've got Sarah Palin, John McCain you've got all the past Republican nominees the last two or three cycles jumping in the establishment is pretrified of Trump. I think Trump could do very well here in Michigan and do very well in the Midwestern states."
Does Bernie Sanders have a real chance to win the Democratic nomination?
"Once you're behind in terms of delegates, and Sanders is behind - significantly, it's very hard to catch up because of the proportional voting rule - so that even though Clinton lost a couple states yesterday - she still picked up significant delegates so unless something changes dramatically, there's some dramatic event in this race - Clinton is the front runner and I think she's going to be the Democratic nominee."
As Michigan voters prepare for the primaries this week, Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton will host a rally in Detroit on Monday.
The event will be held at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History on Monday. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. with the program kicking off at 7:45 p.m.

Meanwhile, husband and former president Bill Clinton will be hitting up a local hot spot for an afternoon meeting with LGBT supporters at Pronto! restaurant on South Washington in Royal Oak.
Meanwhile, Democratic opponent Bernie Sanders will host a town hall meeting at Detroit's CWA Hall on Sunday just before the duo travel to Flint for a nationally-televised debate later that day.
