Saint Clair Shores Man Convicted On Drug Charges In Ohio
DAYTON, Ohio (WWJ/AP) - A Michigan man arrested after authorities found about 17,000 prescription pills in his vehicle has been convicted on drug charges in southwest Ohio.
Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. says 30-year-old William Hedges, of St. Clair Shores, Mich., was convicted Thursday in Dayton on two counts of aggravated possession of drugs.
The State Highway Patrol said the pills seized in a June 20 traffic stop -- which included Methadone, Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, Alprazolam and Suboxone strips -- were worth nearly $340,000. The patrol said it marked their largest prescription pill seizure to that date.
Troopers said they stopped Hedges after seeing his vehicle weaving on southbound I-75, near milepost 64 in Vandalia.
Hedges could be sentenced to three to 11 years on each count. A recording at his attorney's office said the voicemail was full and could not accept messages.
