Ryan Suter, Zach Parise Sign With Minnesota
DETROIT (97.1 The Ticket/AP) - The Minnesota Wild has agreed to terms with the two biggest free agents on the market, securing the services of defenseman Ryan Suter and forward Zach Parise.
Both deals are reportedly worth $98 million over 13 years.
The Detroit Red Wings were hoping to obtain one, if not both, of the players.
Parise leaves the New Jersey Devils, while Suter leaves the Nashville Predators to join the Wild.
Parise spent seven seasons with the Devils, helping them reach the Stanley Cup finals this season. The 27-year-old Minnesota native has 194 goals and 216 assists in 503 career games. He scored 30-plus goals five times.
Suter, also 27, has spent his first seven years in the NHL with the Predators. The All-Star defenseman had career highs in points last year, with 7 goals and 39 assists.
Parise, who is from Minnesota, and Suter, a native of Wisconsin, helped the U.S. win silver at the 2010 Olympics.
