Runways Open At Metro Airport, Some Flights Delayed
Romulus (WWJ) - What's the situation for travelers at Metro Airport this morning?
Speaking live with Greg Bowman and Roberta Jasina, Airport Spokesman Michael Conway says "Our crews are doing really well. They're unbelievably dedicated folks, and they've kept the runways open and available throughout this entire storm."
What about flight cancellations and delays?
"There were quite a few cancellations last night," Conway said, "and we have to remember this storm has impacted more communities than just Metropolitan Detroit. When the ice came last night, the roadways got a little bit bad and ground transportation was a bit of an issue because there were so many people all at the same time with all of the cancelled flights going for ground transportation, but today we've got sedans and cabs available. The roadways are in really good shape and we have more runways and taxiways available for the airlines than they need at this moment."
Travelers flying Delta Airlines to or from Metro Airport could get weather waivers if flights are canceled or delayed significantly. That follows hundreds of flight cancellations nationwide on Sunday. Continue to monitor our website for all the flight information you need.
