'Run/Walk BOOM!!!' Organizers Reconsider Name Of Race
HUNTINGTON WOODS (WWJ) - Organizers of a fundraiser to support July 4th celebrations in Huntington Woods are rethinking the event's name following the Boston Marathon bombings.
The "Run/Walk BOOM!!!" races are June 29.
The "boom" in the name refers to fact that money raised will "help keep the fireworks booming" for local kids.
Organizers would like to change the name of the event but, they say, the problem is it's a fundraiser -- and entry forms and fliers have already gone out. Also, T-shirts have already been ordered.
Organizers posted a survey on the event's website to gather public opinion on whether or not they should change the name.
