Running Stores Across Mich. Come Together For Boston, Plan Fundraising Race
ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - Running stores across Michigan are coming together in support of Boston's running community.
Steve Angerman, with the Running Fit chain, said they're hosting a "Runners For Boston" event Wednesday night at Kensington Metro Park's east boat launch. He's encouraging runners and walkers to wear blue and yellow, Boston's running colors, or any Boston marathon gear.
"If you've ever run in the Boston Marathon, you know, wear some of the gear or the colors from the Boston Marathon, because it's such a meaningful race to a lot of people," he said.
Those who show up can even buy a special shirt to help the cause, too.
"Runners will also have the opportunity to donate, so we'll sell these shirts for $20 and all $20 will go right to The One Fund Boston organization," he said. "It's just a white-based shirt, some of them are using grey I think, and it has an artwork on it that has a heart and says 'Runners for Boston.'"
The "Runners For Boston" unity 4.15 mile race/walk will be held Wednesday, April 24 at 6:30p.m. at Kensington Metropark. For more details, visit the Running Fit Facebook page.
Can't make it to the race? You can still donate to the cause. Visit www.onefundboston.org for more details.
