Royal Oak Teachers, Board Voting On Tentative Contract
An important school vote is scheduled to take place Monday in Royal Oak.
The teacher's union and the Board of Education are set to vote on a tentative contract agreement. This, after the district was put on the Michigan Education Association's critical list earlier this year. Executive director of the Royal Oak Education Association, Laurie Moore, says the agreement came after compromise on both sides.
In West Bloomfield, meanwhile, the teachers association is still listed by the Michigan Education Association as "critical" as no agreement has been reached with teachers. The former contract expired at the end of August. District officials have asked for a mediator to help with negotiations.
