Royal Oak Family Wins Tickets Courtesy Of Verlander
DETROIT (WWJ) - Justin Verlander gets the start tonight against the Yankees in Game 3 of the ALCS, and two of the Tigers biggest fans will be his guests.
Verlander put the call out on Twitter -- telling fans he would give two tickets to the person who gives the best show of Detroit spirit. There were poems, carved pumpkins, and photos of babies all dressed up. The Vogelsong family set up their camcorder -- and rapped about their love for the Tigers. And Verlander liked it so much, they were announced as the winners this morning.
Cheryl Vogelsong of Royal Oak says she's been with the Tigers since the 1968 World Series.
"We watch every game," Vogelsong said. "We try to go to the park as much as we can. My sister and I; we ... went downtown the other day and just kinda drove around the park and tried to give good vibes and ... soak up the atmosphere; people were down there buying tickets and it's a great thing."
