Romulus Postal Workers Claim Mega Millions Jackpot
ROMULUS (WWJ) - This check is not in the mail. A group of postal workers, Friday, picked up a check for $29 million, less taxes, at the state lottery offices in Lansing.
Jose and Charlene Person told reporters they began singing "We're in the Money'' Wednesday morning after re-checking the numbers and confirming they'd won. They're among 13 current and retired postal workers who plan to split their half of a $93 million Mega Millions lottery prize.
The PI Gold Lottery Club has chosen to take it in one lump sum.
The two 48-year-olds work at the Romulus priority mail processing center and plan to return to work Monday.
The local winning ticket was sold at a Meijer store in Belleville. The other winning ticket was sold in Indiana.
