Romulus Police Make Arrest In Deadly Beating
ROMULUS (WWJ) - Bond has been set at $1 million for a 41-year-old man charged in a brutal beating and murder.
Michael Sutton of Canton Township was arraigned Friday in 34th District Court on charges of First Degree Murder, Felony Murder and Torture.
Investigators said Frank Jones was found last week by his son, lying face down on the bathroom floor of his Romulus home. He had been beaten and had a plastic bag over his head. Police said the 57-year-old man's house had been ransacked and his Mustang convertible was missing.
Police said evidence show the two were "close," but they're not saying exactly what pointed to Sutton as the killer.
"Physical evidence found at the crime scene and on the suspect at his arrest, along with phone and data records indicating an intimate relationship between Sutton and the victim, led police to their suspect," said Romulus Police Chief Robert Dickerson, in a statement.
Reporting from the courtroom, WWJ's Stephanie Davis said Sutton was quiet during Friday's proceedings. When asked, he told the judge that he is no currently employed.
Sutton will remained jailed until a Preliminary Exam Hearing set for Wednesday, January 25 at 9 a.m..
