Rochester Hills Woman Takes 2nd In Boston Marathon
DETROIT (WWJ) - A Rochester Hills woman barely missed become the first American, male or female, to win the Boston Marathon in 26 years.
Desiree Davila finished second in the women's division with a time of two hours, 22 minutes, 38 seconds, just two seconds behind the winner, Caroline Kalil of Kenya.
The men's title was won by Kenyan Geoffrey Mutai. His time of two hours, three minutes, two seconds is the fastest Boston Marathon ever.
Davila finished 18th at Boston in 2007 and ran the fastest marathon by an American in 2010, with a fourth-place finish in Chicago.
The last American to win the storied race was Lisa-Larsen Weidenbach in 1985.
