Robert "Tractor" Traylor Found Dead
Former University of Michigan basketball player Robert "Tractor" Traylor has been found dead in his apartment in Puerto Rico.
Traylor, the bruising power forward who starred at UofM and played seven seasons in the NBA, was 34-years-old.
Traylor, now playing for the Vaqueros de Bayamón (Bayamon Cowboys) of Puerto Rico's BSN League, apparently died as a result of a massive heart attack, according to a post on the team's official Facebook page and elnuevodia.com.
Although the cause of death and confirmation from police was not immediately released.
WWJ Newsradio 950's Rob Pasco said Traylor was the 6th pick in the 1998 NBA Draft, but he never really made an impact. Weight problems and heart surgery in 2006 played a factor in his career.
97.1 The Ticket's Terry Foster said Traylor was an interesting athlete to watch.
"I would call him a mysterious athlete. Because, you look at him... he was always kinda pudgy and never really built, but he was a better athlete than you thought he was. And he had a soft touch. He had nice, soft hands around the basket, but then he could alway be kind of powerful, too," Foster said.
Before moving to Puerto Rico, Traylor also played ball, for a time, in Turkey.
