Robber Caught In Mini Crime Spree
DETROIT (WWJ) - A man who police say robbed a Walgreens store and tried to rob a Chase bank has been arrested.
It happened Monday morning along Jefferson on Detroit's east side.
Police said the man passed a note to workers at the pharmacy at Jefferson and Mount Elliot and took off with some money. Six minutes later, police said the same man robbed the Chase bank in the nearby Harbortown neighborhood -- but didn't get away with it.
But Detroit police officer Robin Cleaver said the suspect was trapped in between new security doors at the bank. "One door has to be shut before the other door opens, so when he shut the first one they can lock it and he can't get out," Cleaver said.
The suspect remained between the doors until police arrived. His name has not been released.
No one was injured in either incident.
