Robber Apprehended Day After Bank Heist
CLAWSON (WWJ) -- A bank robbery suspect was arrested and arraigned Friday in Federal Court after being identified through the help of surveillance photos.
The incident happened on Wednesday in Clawson at the KeyBank on 14 Mile. After making a money grab, 39-year-old Matthew Pickett took off and evaded arrest.
On Thursday, police located Pickett at a known drug house in Detroit. He was taken into custody with the help of the FBI and the Oakland County Gang & Violent Crimes Task Force.
Clawson High School and Middle School were put on lockdown following the robbery as the suspect escaped and was at large late in the afternoon.
The lockdown started before the school day ended and students were being held after the final bell as a precaution. Police said the robbery was not connected to the schools.
Pickett has been charged in the bank robbery.
