Roadwork To Begin On M-59
The start of Spring means road construction and orange barrels will be on M-59 in Oakland County starting Monday.
The Michigan Department of Transportation says crews will begin work to resurface four miles of the freeway between Crooks and Opdyke roads.
Weather-permitting, crews will close one lane on the freeway in order to construct a temporary lane for use later in the project. Once the temporary lane has been constructed, traffic will be shifted with two lanes maintained during peak travel times, during morning and afternoon rush hours. One lane will remain open on nights and weekends.
Along with the paving, repairs will be made to the bridge over the Clinton River Trail, improvements at the Squirrel Road, I-75 and Adams Road interchanges, and safety upgrades to median guardrails.
The 21-million dollar project is expected to be completed by December.
