Reward Over $20K For Info In Party Store Owner's Shooting Death

CLINTON TWP. (WWJ) - A cash reward has grown to over $20,000 for information that can help solve the case of a Macomb County party store owner who was murdered during a robbery.

Basim Sulaka, a 51-year-old father of two who survived cancer, was killed March 28 when three masked men with guns broke into the Moon Lite Party Store on Harper Avenue, just north of 14 Mile Road in Clinton Township.

After fatally shooting Sulaka, the crooks ransacked the store, taking an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register before fleeing the scene.

CRIME SCENE PHOTOS: Who Are These Men?

All three suspects are believed to be black males. They were all dressed in dark clothing with masks partially covering their faces. Police say the suspects also wore gloves, as to not leave their fingerprints behind as evidence.

Investigators have released several images from surveillance cameras that captured the crime in progress, but have not yet been able to identify the suspects.

Several organizations have offered cash rewards to help catch Sulaka's killers, including the Chaldean American Chamber of Commerce which has donated $10,000.

"Our hearts are heavy for the loss of a great family and business man," Martin Manna, Chaldean American Chamber of Commerce president, said in a statement. "Sulaka was a valued member of the Chaldean community, and we hope the reward will bring the killers to justice and prevent the senseless acts of violence that occur far too often."

Anyone with information or who may recognize the suspects is urged to contact police at 586-493-7800 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. Callers can remain completely anonymous.
