Reward Offered In Parked Car Cash Grab

Warren Police police are searching for thieves that stole more than $50,000 in cash from a parked car.

The car belonged to the owner of several gas stations and he'd been collecting money from the long holiday weekend. The victim made his final stop at his station at 9 mile and Dequindre and, when he came out, the money was gone.

Police Commissioner William Dwyer tells WWJ it was no random crime.

"Somebody, we suspect, had his pattern down as far as his route of picking up the receipts, and he was targeted based on that

Dwyer said the thieves took a plastic bag containing what that the victim indicated was $50,000 in cash, $3,000 in checks and $80 in coins.

Police are studying a video of the crime.

A $1,000 reward is being offered for information that will lead to an arrest.
