Reward Offered For Tips In Northville Hit-And-Run
NORTHVILLE (WWJ) - A $1,000 reward is being offered for tips leading to an arrest in a fatal hit and run case in Northville.
Police say 25-year-old Joshua Green of Bloomfield Hills, was walking with his friends on Griswold Street, heading to a bar, at 1 a.m. Sunday, December 3, when he was hit from behind. He was taken to Bottsford Hospital where he died nine hours later.
Family and friends, including Elizabeth Warren, are hoping someone who knows something will come forward.
"Words kind of escape me," she told reporters on Tuesday. "This is one of the hardest things we've had to go through."
Added his mother, Shirley Green, "I never heard anyone say anything bad about him ... He was just the love of everybody's life and it's just a blessing to hear people talk about him and this person that he was."
Police Chief Gary Goss said it's the only fatal pedestrian accident in Northville in recent memory.
"Northville is a very unique town and has a ... downtown and a huge amount of pedestrian traffic," he said. "We have very few incidents because most people are traveling at a very low speed."
Goss said Green was in the street when hit, so had the driver stopped they likely would not have been charged in the accident. Having fled a fatal accident, the driver now faces a 15-year felony, although Goss said the prosecutor still could still take it into consideration if the driver comes forward.
Police are looking for a dark-colored, possibly black, 2007 to 2011 Honda CRV EX-L -- the small SUV, that hit Green. After the accident it would have had front end damage and a missing passenger-side rear view mirror.
An additional $1,000 is offered if the tip comes in before midnight Tuesday.
