Reward In Case Of Man Found Dead In Burned Home
DETROIT (WWJ) - The family of 30-year-old man who was found shot to death and burned in a home on Detroit's west side last April is pleading with the public for help in finding his killer.
"If anyone, please, knows who murdered my son, would they place come forward? The family would love to know, for them to be brought to justice," said Annie Sears the mother of the victim, Terrell Payton.
Police say Payton's badly burned body was found in a home on Robson Street near Grand River on April 3. But police believe that he was shot to death.
"We believe that Mr. Payton was murdered several days prior to the fire being set," said Detroit Police Officer Janell White.
"We have information that a neighbor saw two black males fleeing that location on the Thursday night prior to the Sunday early morning when he was found ... fleeing in a red vehicle," he said.
Crime Stoppers of Michigan is offering a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of Payton's killer. Tips can be made anonymously at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
