Revenge Appears To Be Motive Behind Fire That Damaged 3 Homes In Detroit Say Officials
DETROIT (WWJ) - A fire damages three houses on Tyler street near Linwood and Davison.
The fire started at one home, which was almost completely destroyed, and quickly spread to two nearby homes and a car in one of the driveways.
Detroit fire officials tell WWJ Newsradio 950's Stephanie Davis that this is a case of arson and the motive may be revenge.
Arson investigators may need to sort through a broken love triangle as two women are accusing each other of starting the fire.
Battalion Fire Chief Tracy Thomas:"The young man mentioned to me a girlfriend ... a former girlfriend, was on his porch and said 'I should set this ... on fire' and lo and behold we end up getting a box alarm here."
Rita McKenny was driving on Linwood when she saw the smoke.
"I didn't hear no sirens ... I drove down there and we seen the hood of the car on fire and I hurried and I picked up my phone for 911," said McKenny. "I saw her trying to get the babies out - so they was trying to get the older gentleman and his wife out and we ran , we assisted them as best we could."
No one was injured in the 3 house fire.
