Retired Cop Fatally Shoots Would-be Robber
A retired Detroit police officer turns the tables on a would-be robber at a local party store.
The fatal shooting involving a retired Detroit police officer happened around 9:15 Sunday night on Detroit's west side outside the Omni Liquor Store on West Seven Mile, near Marlowe.
Detroit Police Sgt. Eren Stephens tells WWJ, the retired officer was exiting the store when he was approached by a 19-year old man with a gun, and announced a hold up. The retired officer drew his own weapon and fatally shot the robber.
"He was coming out of the party store, when he was approached by a black male, armed, and demanding personal items from the retired officer, a gun fire occurred and the suspect was fatally shot." Sgt. Stephens stated.
Sgt. Stephens says the name and age of the retired officer are not being released at this time. The officer was not injured in the shooting, which remains under investigation.
