Retailers Ready For Last Full Holiday Shopping Weekend
DETROIT (WWJ) - It's the last full weekend of the holiday shopping season and retailers say they're ready.
While the discounts likely won't be as wide or deep as "Black Friday," Tom Scott of the Michigan Retailers Association said foot traffic should be the busiest of the year.
"Our advice to shoppers would be the same at any time of the year. Just stay relaxed, try and be organized, know what you're doing and try to enjoy it, don't make it a life or death situation," said Scott.
With Christmas falling on a Sunday this year, Scott said foot traffic this weekend should be the busiest of the year, and most of those shoppers will be men.
"When you have Saturday falling before Christmas Sunday, it tends to be a little weaker because people, although they do shop still on the day before Christmas, toward the afternoon it tends to thin out a little bit. So, that would really throw it back then to this Saturday which promises to be pretty big," said Scott.
For some stores, the holiday season represents 40 percent of annual sales.
