Residential Fires Not Helped By Wind In Highland Park
HIGHLAND PARK (WWJ) - A busy scene in Highland Park for firefighters at this hour.
Highland Park fire officials tell WWJ that they speculate Monday's winds have spread a fire that began on Hill Street. WWJ's Lance Howard is above the situation at this hour.
"The fires in Highland Park are unfortunately expanding - starting on Hill Street between Rosa Parks and Hamilton. Fire has now spread to the east side of Hamilton ... at least four structures burning plus an abandoned business front on Hamilton apprears to be on fire as well," said Howard.
Fire officials tell WWJ they believe there may be a total of six residences on fire. The homes on Hill west of Hamilton are known to have been occupied and no injuries are reported at this time.
Officials say it is a hectic situation but they have not exhausted their resources yet in an attempt to contain the fires.
No word yet on the cause of the fire.
