Republicans Look For Alternatives To Pension Tax
LANSING (WWJ) - Republicans in Lansing are setting aside time on Tuesday to discuss alternatives to part of Governor Rick Snyder's budget and tax reform proposals.
The future of the Governor's budget is on the line in the Senate Republican Caucus as lawmakers plan to spend four hours looking at alternatives to the pension tax.
Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville said the lawmakers definitely have their work cut out for them.
"We're going to put everything on the table and start taking things off. That's what we did in the first move, put everything out there. And now we've pulled some things off," Richardville said. "There's still a lot on the table to be worked on."
WWJ's Tim Skubick reports that it is clear at least 10 senate republicans are not in favor of the Governor's pension tax on seniors.
