Woman Killed In Drive-By Shooting On Detroit's East Side
DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities are searching for a killer after a woman was fatally wounded in a drive-by shooting on Detroit's east side.
The shooting happened late Tuesday night on Outer Drive near Conley Street, just west of Mound Road.
Police say three women had spent a night out on the town and were sitting in a car when an SUV pulled up and someone inside opened fire.
A 28-year-old woman who was sitting in the back seat was shot multiple times. She was declared dead on arrival at a local hospital. The other women were uninjured.
Tamika Williams, who lives in the neighborhood, said she heard about four gunshots.
"It was around 10 something, close 11 o'clock," Williams told WWJ's Mike Campbell. "We didn't know anything actually because we were in the house and it scared us because the blinds was closed but it just sounded like it was right out here. When you hear a gunshot, we don't peek out the window, we hit the floor. And I count heads when we finish to make sure everybody's OK."
Police are now searching for the suspect, described as a black male driving a 2003 or 2004 black GMC Yukon.
An investigation is ongoing.
