Reports: Tigers Agree To 2-Year, $18.5 Million Deal With J.D. Martinez
DETROIT (CBS Detroit) -- The Detroit Tigers have reportedly avoided arbitration and agreed to a two-year contract with outfielder J.D. Martinez.
Martinez won the Silver Slugger award for batting .282 with 38 home runs and 102 RBIs in 2015. He was also named to the American League All-Star team for the first time in his career and was a finalist for the Gold Glove award.
The Tigers signed Martinez to a minor-league contract in early 2014 after he was released by the Houston Astros.
