Reports Of Big Cat Roaming Milwaukee Inspire Packers Fans' Detroit Lions Jokes
By George Fox – @GeorgeJFox
For some reason, a deadly animal roaming through back yards and parks of a metropolitan area is just funny.
Milwaukee police say a woman reported seeing a lion Monday afternoon in her north side neighborhood. Police Chief Edward Flynn says his officers were given cellphone video of an animal that appeared to be a "lion-ish creature."
The Internet sank their claws into the news and lit up Twitter with dozens of photoshopped images and memes featuring lions in various scenes of Milwaukee life -- which apparently involves some drinking.
A couple apparent Green Bay Packers fans pounced on the opportunity to throw shade on the Detroit Lions.
The hashtag #MKELion quickly took on a life of its own. Jason Teuteberg Tweeted, "Don't worry guys, a lion hasn't been a serious threat in Wisconsin since 1991." with a picture of a half dozen Packers tackling Reggie Bush.
@Lombardi_Fdn mentioned the Packers' convincing 97-67 lead vs. the Lions. Speaking for the fanbase he assured, "... we're not too worried".
Some experts are now saying it's probably someone's pet and more likely a cougar. Cue more jokes.
