Report: Tigers To Sign Joba Chamberlain
According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports the Detroit Tigers are set to sign free agent RHP Joba Chamberlain. Chamberlain, 28, who has pitched with the New York Yankees since 2007 has a career ERA of 3.85.
Chamberlain hit the scene as a 21 year old and in 24 innings he had an ERA of .38 with 34 strike outs.
Last season Chamberlain posted his highest ERA of his career -- at 4.93 in 42 innings pitched. The Yankees tried using Chamberlain as a starter in 2009, when he had a 9-6 record and a 4.75 ERA.
Known as a strike-out pitcher in his younger days, he had a career high 133 in 2009.
