Report: Tigers Open To Trading Prince Fielder

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) Admittedly, it's news that comes through the grapevine, but word broke on Twitter Wednesday that the Detroit Tigers may be open to trading superstar slugger Prince Fielder.
This comes from Henry Schulman, a beat reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle, who is quoting an "unnamed American League executive."
Fielder, 29, came to town last year riding high on a $214 million contract -- seemingly destined to bring the World Series back to Detroit -- and quickly became a fan favorite.
Then he hit the skids with fans with a flagging batting average, little output in the post-season, and a seemingly uncaring attitude about it. Off the field, Fielder is embroiled in a divorce with his wife, the mother of his two young sons.
Asked by 97.1 The Ticket's Jeff Riger at the end of the ALCS how he seemed able to shrug off the team's loss so easily, Fielder said this:
"Yeah, you got to be a man about it you know. I got kids, like I said, if I'm sitting around pouting how am I going to tell them to keep their chins up or keep their heads up when something doesn't go their way? So, yeah, definitely it's over."
When told, that fans might not be able to understand how he could get over a playoff loss so easily he responded, "'Cuz they don't play, I mean if you have responsibilities … it should be, you know, you shouldn't take your work home with you, you know. I still have to be a father and take care of my kids, so you have to move on."
He also said of fans who were booing him on the field: "If they could do it, they would play."
