Report: Pistons Sale Could Be Done Next Week
A report Friday morning suggests that the sale of the Detroit Pistons could be finalized next week.
Billionaire financier Tom Gores is said to be the front-runner to buy the team from owner Karen Davidson, according to the Detroit News.
Gores is a Michigan State University alum and CEO of Platinum Equity. His bid is thought to be in the $300 millions, according to the News. He wouldn't comment when the Pistons played in Los Angeles earlier this week.
Mike Ilitch, owner of the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings, had also expressed an interest in buying the team.
The date for a potential sale has slipped from the beginning of the season to November and now to mid-February when the NBA Board of Governors meets in Los Angeles.
