CBS DETROIT - Lloyd Carr, the coach who guided Michigan to its last national championship, wants San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh to be the next head coach of Michigan, according to the Detroit News.
That choice puts Carr, who also led the Wolverines to five Big Ten championships and compiled a record of 122-40 in his career at Michigan, right in line with the hopes of many other Michigan fans.
"Everyone has an opinion, and I am no different," Carr told the News. "If I had a choice, I would choose Jim Harbaugh. But it will be [interim athletic director] Jim Hackett's decision, and that is as it should be."
The university fired Brady Hoke on Tuesday after four years at the helm. The Wolverines won 11 games in his first season but steadily declined from there, and the team finished with a record of 5-7 this year.
