Report: Chevy Volt Being Shipped To Dealerships
General Motors insiders are saying that GM's plant in Hamtramck is already churning out new, showroom-ready Chevrolet Volts, which are being shipped out to dealerships across the country.
The first Chevy Volts will be heading west to dealerships in the Los Angeles area and Austin, Texas. They were built just this past week, with official production on schedule to start this month.
The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the first wave of Volts have yet to be shipped from the Hamtramck plant, but the first customers are expected to get the keys to their Volts in early December.
The extended-range cars will only be sold initially in the Los Angeles, California area; Austin, Texas; New York City and Washington, DC and then sales will extend to Michigan, Connecticut and New Jersey, along with the rest of California and Texas.
