Report: 400 Jobs Lost So Far As Result Of NBA Lockout
While the NBA and the players' union remained at a standstill and players took the court in exhibition games, the lockout has affected many more people around the league.
The NBA has "lost about 400 jobs as part of the collateral damage inflicted on the league and its teams" a source told the SportsBusiness Journal.
Approximately 200 jobs were lost at the NBA headquarters and in its international offices and another 200 throughout the league's 30 teams, the source told the Journal.
Along with the job cuts, which have been called "the result of combined layoffs and attrition," some teams have instituted a hiring freeze for jobs that don't produce revenue, according to Bill Sutton, who heads a sports consulting firm that works with the NBA.
