Report: 100 More Detroit Schools To Close

More public school closings are planned for Detroit.

One hundred more school buildings in the Detroit Public Schools will reportedly be shut down for good over the next two years.

The closings were part of the district's Emergency financial Manager Robert Bobb's monthly proposed deficit elimination plan submitted to the state this week.  It also calls for increasing high school class sizes over three years from 35 to 62 students.

Officials say these and other measures would be needed to deal with the districts $327 million budget deficit if the state doesn't step in to help in someway.

Fifty-nine schools have been closed in past two years saving the district about $12 million.
