Replay Wasn't An Option Early In Game For Tigers

DETROIT (AP) — Baseball's replay system hit a snag in the Motor City.
It was temporarily unavailable for the Detroit Tigers early in their game against the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday.
Both managers were informed during the first inning. The technical problem was fixed after a little more than a half inning, Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said.
Crew chief Gary Cederstrom insisted he did not know how long Detroit's replay system was down, but said the Orioles were free to make use of their system while the Tigers' was not working.
"Everybody could do their challenges," Cederstrom said after Baltimore's 3-1 victory.
MLB expanded use of instant replay this season, allowing most calls to be subject to a manager's challenge. Final decisions to confirm or overturn calls are made from a replay booth in New York.
Baseball began using replay in 2008 to resolve disputes on potential home runs. It was last of the four major North American professional leagues to use video reviews.
