Rent A Classic Car For A Day Or More!
SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - It's cruise season. Cruisin' Gratiot runs this weekend and the Woodward Dream Cruise is just two weekends away. Just because you don't own a classic doesn't mean you have to sit it out.
WWJ's Mike Campbell spoke with Earl Brown of Classic Auto Rentals in Southfield - he can put you in the driver's seat of some pretty special rides.
"The GTO is booked for the week, but the Challenger is still available," said Brown. That's a 66 GTO and 71 Challenger he's talking about -- the latter, a Hemi rag top.
"That's a new style hemi ... a 5.7 Liter Hemi, with a new five speed. It drives like a new car, but looks like an older car," said Brown.
Brown adds that the car is a 'Lemon Twist' color and it has "a few tricks".
The price to drive this classic is $300 a day or $750 for a three-day weekend.
"Actually we have fewer cars booked for Dream Cruise than we usually do for the rest of the year," said Brown.
The majority of the cars are rented by women according to Brown, who says that it usually a girlfriend or wife that rents a car for a gift, or special event. Some folks just want to have fun for a day.
While the $300 price tag may sound steep to drive a car for a day, ask any owner, who pays for the cost of the restoration and insurance and many times storage, and it adds up to a pretty good deal.
