Reggie Bush Added To Lions Injury List

By Chris Morgan

The Detroit Lions are coming off an extended break. Thanks to their last game being on a Thursday—their traditional Thanksgiving Day contest—the Lions have had plenty of time to rest up. That's good, because there are four games left in the season, and the Lions are in the middle of a fight for a playoff spot.

Detroit is visiting the Philadelphia Eagles this week, another team in the mix for the postseason, and it is a huge game for both teams. As the Lions prepare for this game with the Eagles, the team has a few key players dealing with injuries.

However, two of those names should not necessarily have fans worried. Wide receiver Calvin Johnson and safety Louis Delmas both missed practice Wednesday with knee issues. Of course, this is business as usual. Both of these guys have routinely rested during the week before playing on Sunday. With the added time off, there is no reason to think both of these guys won't be there against Philadelphia. Expect to see both Megatron and Delmas, two integral players for this team, take the field Sunday.

On the other hand, another notable player missed practice Wednesday, and this has not been usual. Running back Reggie Bush is reportedly dealing with a sore knee, although he did practice on Tuesday before sitting out Wednesday.

This could mean a couple different things. Perhaps it is encouraging that he could practice on Tuesday, and Wednesday was just a bit of rest for a key player. On the flip side, he may have tweaked something Tuesday, or was trying to practice through the pain and just couldn't do it. While there is a chance Bush will play on Sunday, it is also possible he will be out.

If Bush is out, Joique Bell will be the starter. Bell is a good player, but he does not provide the same dynamic that Bush does. They work great in tandem, but if only one of them plays it hurts Detroit's already limited running game.

Lastly, cornerback Chris Houston practiced in a limited fashion Wednesday. He is dealing with a foot injury, but the fact he could practice is a good sign. The Lions need him, because the Eagles are impressive throwing the ball. Their quarterback Nick Foles has yet to throw an interception this season.

For the Lions to have so few players on the injury report at this time of year is encouraging for them. The only player who seems like they may miss this game is Bush, and even he seems likely to play. Detroit will be roughly full strength against Philly if Bush is available. If the Lions can't beat the Eagles, injuries won't be to blame.

Questionable:

  • Running back Reggie Bush (knee)
  • Safety Louis Delmas (knee)
  • Cornerback Chris Houston (foot)
  • Wide receiver Calvin Johnson (knee)
