Regents Approve Lights At Michigan Stadium
The Big House is getting permanent lights.
The University of Michigan Board of Regents approved the $1.8 million project Thursday.
Athletic director Dave Brandon says the HD-quality lights will perfectly illuminate Michigan's hockey game against Michigan State this winter and its football game next season at night against Notre Dame.
Brandon says the permanent structures will also reduce wear and tear on recently renovated Michigan Stadium.
The school has used temporary lights at football games that start in the middle of the afternoon and end after dusk in the past.
The new lights are expected to be in place before the Wolverines play the Spartans in hockey Dec. 11 in what is being billed as the ``Big Chill at the Big House.''
