Redford Man Indicted On Child Exploitation, Porn Charges
A Redford man has been indicted on allegations he enticed single mothers to sexually assault their children and broadcast the abuse over the Internet.
The 41-year-old Steven Demink was arrested after an investigation by Homeland Security that stretched through Virginia, Idaho and Florida.
Investigators say that, using a fictional persona of a single father, Demink would meet single mothers online and encourage, coerce and entice them into assaulting their kids. The moms would then send him the images or provide live web camera access of the assaults to Demink.
"This case resulted in the rescue of seven children who were being sexually abused," said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director John Morton.
"The vile crimes alleged here are particularly troubling and gives ICE new resolve to tirelessly pursue these predators wherever they exist," he said.
The indictment alleges three counts each of Conspiracy to Sexually Exploit Children, Aiding and Abetting the Sexual Exploitation of Children, Online Enticement and Coercion and Receipt of Child Pornography.
If convicted, Demink faces 15-30 years on the conspiracy and aiding and abetting charges, 5-20 years on the receipt charges, and up to 10 years for possessing the images.
Four mothers have also been arrested.
