Redford Leader Insulted By "It's A Redford Thing" FB Page
REDFORD (WWJ) - "It's A Redford Thing" -- a Facebook page going by that name has stirred up some controversy because of some pictures on it depicting babies with beer bottles and a naked man on a roof with the caption, "Ain't no party like a Redford party." But it's not funny to Redford Township Supervisor Tracey Schultz Kobylarz.
"They aren't flattering and truly not indicative of our township. Unfortunately I think that the posters thought it was funny and perhaps just weren't looking at the big picture as to the people that it really does effect," says Kobylarz.
Kobylarz says she's been in contact with the creators of the page.
"We don't need to be the brunt of anybody's joke and the developers of that particular page have recognized that while they thought they were being funny, they didn't realize how quickly that message could spread and the harm that it could do. And really undo work that they're trying to do in terms of promoting the community," she says.
Kobylarz says the developers have apologized and say they'll take the inappropriate pictures down.
In a message to WWJ Newsradio 950, the creator says they love Redford and their intention was to make people laugh. They've also raised money for charity. And they say they found the picture of babies with beer on the Internet, and that there's no beer in the bottles.
