Columbus has given the Red Wings some pretty tough games in their 10-year history, often in a losing cause. But they enter Friday's game tied in points with the Red Wings, at the top of the Western Conference and with the sort of confidence that coaches and players say they have not felt in previous years.
The Blue Jackets are winners of five straight, including their most recent game against the Islanders in which they rallied on the road. The Blue Jackets say it is precisely the sort of game that they likely would have lost in the past, and a demonstration of their increased confidence and mettle.
