Red Wings Confident They've Put Together A Cup-Worthy Mix
When he joined his teammates again last month, Red Wings defenseman Brad Stuart noticed something.
"We had enough time off to miss the game," he said. "I think a lot of guys are excited to get going, and that's maybe something we didn't have the last two seasons, not right from the start, anyway."
The Wings open the season Friday when they host Anaheim, in a game that marks five months since they were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs. That time off has left players refreshed, while the acquisitions of Mike Modano and Ruslan Salei coupled with the return of Jiri Hudler has provided an infusion of needed depth.
