Red Wings Beat The Wild 5-3
DETROIT (97.1 THE TICKET) - Todd Bertuzzi scored two goals to help the Detroit Red Wings to victory over the Minnesota Wild 5-3 on Friday night.
Pavel Datsyuk added one goal and two assists for the Red Wings - who move to .500 with the win.
The Wings, who went over three games without a power play took advantage Friday night of the opportunity:
"Makes it a lot easier - next time you go in there you have more confidence, " said Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg.
Zetterberg snapped a tie midway through the second period, and Bertuzzi scored his second goal of the game early in the third period to deflate the Wild.
Datsyuk, who assisted on Zetterberg's goal, put Detroit ahead by two late in the second period. Datsyuk also set up Bertuzzi on his second goal that gave the Red Wings a 5-2 lead.
"I like winning," said the understated Wings coach Mike Babcock post-game.
Zach Parise's second goal of the game banked in off Zetterberg to pull the Wild within two midway through the third period.
Jimmy Howard made 23 saves for the Red Wings before a sold-out crowd at Joe Louis Arena.
Minnesota's Josh Harding gave up four goals on 17 shots in the first two periods and finished with 22 saves. Tom Gilbert also scored for the Wild.
