Red Sox Agree To 1-Year Deal With Former Tigers LHP Miller

DALLAS (AP) — Left-hander Andrew Miller has agreed to a one-year deal with the Boston Red Sox, avoiding salary arbitration.

Miller was 6-3 with a 5.54 ERA in 17 games last season for the Red Sox, including 12 starts. Boston was 9-3 in his starts, with Miller allowing three runs or less in eight of those games.

The Red Sox signed Miller as a minor league free agent before last season. He was 3-3 with a 2.47 ERA in 13 games for Triple-A Pawtucket.

Miller was drafted sixth overall by Detroit in 2006. He has a 21-29 career record with a 5.79 ERA in 96 games (66 starts) for the Tigers (2006-07), Florida Marlins (2008-10) and Red Sox.

Boston announced the deal on Tuesday.
