BOSTON (WWJ/AP) - An impressive start fizzled quickly as the Detroit Tigers fall to the Boston Red Sox 7-3 on Monday.
As heard on 97.1 The Ticket - Austin Jackson led off with a solo homer in the first inning but the Red Sox answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning.
Austin Jackson began the game with a homer and Miguel Cabrera had an RBI single for the Tigers, who lost for the fourth time in five games.
Dustin Pedroia hit a tiebreaking homer and drove in three runs to support Clay Buchholz's eight solid innings, for their third straight win.
The Red Sox opened a 10-game homestand - their longest of the season - after taking two of three at Yankee Stadium over the weekend.
Will Middlebrooks had a two-run homer and Carl Crawford added an RBI triple for Boston.
The Detroit Tigers have lost 16 of their last 20 appearances at Fenway Park.
