Michigan Red Cross Sends Aid To New Jersey Area
DETROIT (WWJ) - The Southeastern Michigan Red Cross has sent help to the East coast and more could be on the way as downgraded Sandy makes its way inland.
Spokesman Allison Koenigbauer spoke to WWJ Newsradio about the initial efforts of the Red Cross in Michigan.
"We can not send any more volunteers until the storm hits ... makes landfall and then ... once they open transportation a little bit more we'll be able to send more volunteers. So right now we are on standby," said Koenigbauer.
Koenigbauer said that the Red Cross has sent volunteers to the New Jersey - New York area to aid with sheltering and delivering supplies, in addition to one of their Red Cross vehicles.
