Red And Blue Line Church Service Honors First Responders
DETROIT (WWJ) - The historic Trinity Lutheran Church in downtown Detroit has been holding its Red and Blue Line service in honor of first responders for 20 years.
Sergeant Barbara Kozlov of Detroit's homicide division has been attending for three years and knows the service is appreciated by local police, firefighters and other first responders.
"I really appreciate that they recognize our service, and Dr. Eberhard has always been a big champion of the police department and the fire department so it means a lot," said Kozlov.
Tom Rosenthal, a retired Royal Oak firefighter, has been coming for six of those years.
"It's very important to know that people are supportive of you and when you are in emergencies and there's problems many times you pray and you know that God is with you and it gets you through a lot of the different emergencies that you have to go through," said Rosenthal.
"It's really rewarding to see people helped," he told WWJ's Terri Lee about his reason for staying in the field.
The Red and Blue Line service was presided over by the church's pastor, the Reverend Dr. David Eberhard.
