Record-breaking Heat Blamed For Highland Man's Death
HIGHLAND TWP. (WWJ) - The dangerous heat is now being blamed for contributing to the death of an Oakland County man.
The Medical Examiner's Office told WWJ Newsradio 950 that 38-year-old Clark Carrier Junior from Highland Township reportedly left work feeling disoriented, and was later found dead in his garage.
The medical examiner said, while there were other existing health problems, including obesity, the extreme heat did contribute to his death.
Nationwide, at least 22 deaths have been attributed, at least partially, to the heat.
In the midsts of a week-long heatwave, an Excessive Heat Warning remained effect in Southeast Michigan until 10 p.m. Thursday, with temperatures expected to hit or exceed 100 degrees. The previous record high for this date was 97 degrees.
