Real Estate Agent Reportedly Robbed At Gunpoint While Showing Home In Birmingham
BIRMINGHAM (WWJ) - A real estate agent claims that she was robbed at gunpoint by someone posing as a prospective buyer at a $359,000 home in Birmingham.
The woman told police that the incident happened around noon Tuesday at 1750 Birmingham Boulevard, in a neighborhood off of 14 Mile and Southfield roads, The Detroit Free Press reported.
The woman said she got a call from someone asking to see the 1,669 square-foot brick Tudor home, so she headed over to get things presentable, according to the report.
While she was in the basement taking pictures, a masked man allegedly attacked her from behind, held her at gunpoint and demanded her money and jewelry. The assailant then allegedly locked the woman in a room and fled the scene.
The woman managed to escape and called 911. As police responded to the area in search of the suspect, local schools were placed on lockdown out of caution. Officers searched the area but found no sign of the suspect and after several hours, the lockdowns were lifted.
Police are now investigating the woman's story as they continue looking for the suspect.
