Push For 2nd Bridge Between Detroit, Windsor Continues
Not everyone in Lansing is giving up on plans for a second bridge between Detroit and Windsor.
WWJ Lansing bureau Chief Tim Skubick reports that the popular wisdom is that there will not be a Senate vote on creating another bridge between the two cities. But, House Speaker Andy Dillon isn't ready to throw in the towel just yet.
"I think we'll know a lot more in the next couple of days," Dillon told WWJ Newsradio 950. "I mean, obviously, we don't have much time, but I think if, you know, it's 10,000 jobs. We do need a second span and where I'm comfortable with it is if the Moroun's are right, and there's not enough traffic to justify the second span, the private sector's not gonna cut off up north of a billion dollars to create a bridge that won't pay for itself," Dillon added.
The Morouns own the Ambassador Bridge and they're pushing for a "no" vote on building a second bridge.
